Grant Program

Wild Ones South Central Pennsylvania (SCPA) provides four grants per year, up to $250 per applicant, for projects that mirror Wild Ones’ mission to “connect people and native plants for a healthy planet.” Wild Ones promotes environmentally friendly, sound landscaping to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration, and establishment of native plant communities.

Eligibility:  Applicants may be individual homeowners, schools, public gardens, or other group projects located within the Wild Ones SCPA area, which encompasses the following eleven counties: Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lebanon, Mifflin, Perry, and York.

Focus: Applicants’ projects should seek to preserve, restore, or establish native plant communities and provide educational opportunities in the community to learn about the importance of landscaping with native plants.   Plant selection should be locally native, straight species, rather than cultivars, whenever possible.   Plant procurement should be from local native plant nurseries or garden centers that specialize in native plants.  The grant checks will be made out to a local nursery(ies).

Timeline: Application submission: December 2025 – January 30, 2026

Site visits will be followed by the Wild Ones SCPA grant team.

Grant selection and notification will occur by the end of March 2026, including disbursement of grant funds.

A brief report with photos documenting the project’s success is due by November 15, 2026.  A follow-up site visit will also take place.
